Jerry was born to a family of nine children in Tehran, Iran. He was introduced to art through two of his brothers during his childhood. From the ages of 12 to 20 they taught him a variety of art and exposed him to different medias. At the age of 24 Jerry moved to Houston, Texas where he received his Masters Degree from Texas A & M. Unfortunately, his artistic talent during his college years and years after that was postponed due to work and a busy life. Jerry was introduced to the media of watercolor a decade ago and has since studied under well-known artists in California and abroad. His watercolors are influenced by European and Middle Eastern landscapes and architecture, which are his favorite subjects to paint. He also paints a variety of other subjects as they interest him. Jerry recently retired and can now devote more of his time to his watercolor painting, which is something that he has wanted to do for most of his life. He is constantly inspired by the never ending variety of shapes and colors in nature with its distinct four seasons. Sometimes he can’t wait to get to the brush and bring his ideas onto paper before they disappear from his mind. He is known for his calming rendering of landscapes and the light, dark and shadows are the essential components in his watercolor paintings. Jerry’s wife, Lynette, and son, Christopher, both have their input when it comes to the framing and matting of his watercolor paintings. She is heavily involved with the matt and frame selections of Jerry’s paintings. “When it comes to the matt and frame, I am color blind.” Jerry says. |
